A Man and His Marrow

UPPER BODY STRENGTH TRAINING – RUNNING WITH MARROW

Shane Record …

My wife Emma – who has a degree in Sport Science – told me that my training was all very well but that I hadn’t done any upper body strength training. So… on my last run, in my full running gear, after the first 5 miles to Saltwood I noticed on someone’s wall a large marrow with a note that said “Free – please take” So… yes, I picked it up and ran the next four miles with the marrow under my arm (alternating sides every minute or so of course). As I ran along the A20 up to and past Postling, I did wonder whether I might get picked up by the police as I must have looked like an allotment poacher running from the scene of the crime. But hey, thankfully that didn’t happen (although some of the drivers looked a bit perplexed – as did Emma when she picked me up…)

Have to point out – that wasn’t the actual marrow I picked up and ran with. Although it was the same colour.
